A $110 million mixed used development is moving forward in Wildwood Florida on Hwy 44a just west of Powell Rd.
Special Magistrate Grant Watson recommended approval of a zoning change and comprehensive plan amendment Tuesday during the Wildwood Planning and Zoning meeting. The city’s commissioners will likely act on the proposed ordinances later this month.
The project by Blount Development Group is a 36 acre plan to be built on a former Wildwood ranch. Consisting of at least 320 one- to three- bedroom market-rate non-age-restricted apartments. There will be duplexes, townhomes, carriage homes and garden-style units. Amenities will feature a resort-style pool, clubhouse, fitness center, outdoor grills, and walking paths.
There will also be a gated active adult senior living community and 100,000 square feet of medical office space.
Not only meeting the needs of the seniors in the community but also the working families located in the area, which, as a lifelong Lake/Sumter County resident, is a critical piece to Developer Rick Blount.
The development is within walking distance from Wildwood schools, the Wildwood Community Center, as well as Millennium Park, where there are soccer fields, baseball//softball fields, walking paths, and more. Not to mention, the development is also very close to The Villages newest Town Square. Brownwood offers many restaurants to dine at, entertainment, and a movie theatre.
