Rick’s family has been builders/developers in the Central Florida area since the early 1950s starting with his father Bob Blount. He started in construction working for his father as a teenager, building custom homes, and commercial buildings. Rick found his passion identifying and acquiring prime land development sites.
Over the past 30 years, Rick has identified, acquired, and sold off over 1,000 acres in Florida and Tennessee for residential and senior living development. Rick is spearheading Blount Development’s current focus on acquiring land in Florida and Tennessee for build-to-rent projects as well as senior living.
With over 25 years of senior-level finance executive experience, Carl is Senior Advisor, Finance and Strategy for Blount Development Group.
Prior to joining Blount Development Group, Carl was Executive Vice President, CFO, Board Member and President for various business units of Baha Mar Ltd, for nine years. He was finance and business lead for US$2.6 billion in financing through the China Export / Import Bank.
Carl also served as CFO/Senior Vice President of Hong Kong Disneyland from construction through the first year of operations, and represented management on the Joint Venture Board with majority Hong Kong government officials. Before the Hong Kong assignment he held various finance, strategy and operations roles of increasing responsibility with The Walt Disney Company over the course of 18 years.
In addition to Strategy, Operations, and Finance, Carl has expertise in hospitality, theme parks, hotels, and very large resort scale developments.
Carl also has consulted with various organizations on finance, strategy, and leadership including Central Florida property developer Lake Nona. Carl graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering and holds a Master of Business Administration from Rollins College.
In addition to his finance and business career, Carl held volunteer leadership roles with Coastal Conservation Association of Florida having served as President and Management Committee Chairman.
Certified as an urban planning professional by the American Institute of Certified Planners, Greg has over 44 years of experience providing land planning services. Greg has worked with both the public and private sectors. He has provided land-planning assistance to not only over 14 governmental agencies but to hundreds of developers in the private sector. He has been instrumental in getting entitlements on hundreds of millions of dollars in new development of single-family, multi-family, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and large projects that met DRI standards (Development of Regional Impacts).
As the planning professional, Greg will investigate the potential entitlement capabilities of parcels for their highest and best use for Blount Development Group.
Greg is the founder, principal planner, and CEO of LPG Urban & Regional Planners in which Greg supervised the creation of comprehensive plans, comprehensive plan amendments, guidance in land development regulations, as well as assistance and support with local government agencies.
In addition, Greg has significant experience in the administrative field, having served as Assistant City Manager and Airport Manager of Leesburg, FL for 4 years in the 1980s.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science in Public Administration from Florida State University. Greg is a member of the American Planning Association, the American Society for Public Administration, and the Florida City and County Management Association.
Mary recently joined Blount Development Group as Vice President and will head up the newly formed design and construction department. Mary spent 30 years employed as one of the top “Home Design Consultants” by the #1 selling master-planned community in the U.S.
During her long career with the ultra-successful Central Florida Master Developer, Mary played various roles, including consulting with customers on their custom homes and at times, designing and overseeing the construction of inventory/spec homes.
Mary worked directly with over 5,000 home buyers and subsequently oversaw the completion of those 5,000 new homes all the way thru to “certificate of occupancy”. She also played an integral part in the design of several new neighborhood styles within the master plan.
Mary brings along her wealth of knowledge gained over 30 years in the industry in the areas of new home layout and construction while also learning what many residents prefer in regards to elevations, cabinetry, flooring, appliances, kitchens, and bathrooms. She has completed numerous courses and trainings provided by well-known suppliers in the areas of plumbing (Delta and Kohler), flooring (Mohawk, Trinity Tile), appliances (GE profile), cabinetry (Merillat, Homecrest), and many others.
After 30 years with the same master developer, Mary retired in 2018. She has recently become active again to pursue the vast and exciting opportunities in the build to rent space. She will be working alongside her husband, Rick as BDG ramps up to accommodate the huge demand for housing all over the SE. Mary’s primary role will be overseeing and working with the residential contractors and various vendors for the new home construction.
Mike Blount, one of BDG’s advisors, has been head project manager of over $1 billion in ground-up Multifamily and Student Housing Construction while with firms such as DeBartolo Development, Trammel Crow Residential, and Morgan Group.
Mike was head of construction for some of the first privately funded, student housing projects in the country at Mississippi State And Auburn University in the 1980s.
